G-1 Glass Pool table [glbedst] $40,438.00 The G-1 crystal like billiard table is the first of it's kind with an 8ft x 3/4" thick Starphire toughened glass bed. The pattented transparent film Vitrik covers the bed and gives resistance to the rolling balls. (Just as the traditional worsted wool cloth bed would). The exposed ball return system adds to the aesthetics of the pool table.
The only billiard table on the market that shows off your flooring or couture rug and adds space to your game room.
The table is currently being installed in an all glass 2 million dollar penthouse renovation overlooking the harbour. Imagine, everything in glass, including the billiard table with a background vew of the ocean! Spectacular!

Starphire® Ultra-Clear glass offers the ultimate in brilliant transparency. Manufactured with a proprietary low-iron formulation. The 3/4" is a heavy weight thickness used for tables, etc. The glass is both strong and flat as is the standard slate billiard bed.
The beauty of the glass bed reminded us of the brilliance of crystal.
April 9, 2007—Geologist Juan Manuel García-Ruiz calls it "the Sistine Chapel of crystals," but Superman could call it home. A sort of south-of-the-border Fortress of Solitude, Mexico's Cueva de los Cristales (Cave of Crystals) contains some of the world's largest known natural crystals—translucent beams of gypsum as long as 36 feet (11 meters). How did the crystals reach such superheroic proportions? In the new issue of the journal Geology, García-Ruiz reports that for millennia the crystals thrived in the cave's extremely rare and stable natural environment. Temperatures hovered consistently around a steamy 136 degrees Fahrenheit (58 degrees Celsius), and the cave was filled with mineral-rich water that drove the crystals' growth. What is a Crystal? Crystals are solids that form by a regular repeated pattern of molecules connecting together. In some solids, the arrangements of the building blocks (atoms and molecules) can be random or very different throughout the material. In crystals, however, a collections of atoms called the Unit Cell is repeated in exactly the same arrangement over and over throughout the entire material. Because of this repetitive nature, crystals can take on strange and interesting looking forms, naturally. When we grow crystals we are separating all the building block molecules into individual units in water and letting them fall naturally into their appropriate place in the repetitive structure as the water evaporates.

Glass Vs. Fabric Bed:
Durable, easy to clean, and spill resistant. With proper maintenance it has been found to outlast cloth surfaces in normal use. The glass surface won't fade and is humidity resistant unlike cloth.
Your Options:
The glass bed playing surface is available as clear or frosted finishes. When frosted it gives the effect of balls floating over ice and the entire surface glows when lit from underneath. Please inquire about the range of colors, tints and mirror finishes available.
Frame:
All steel and aluminum. Both the frame and bumpers are available in a wide range of colors.
The table is warrantied for 3 years.
Most Common Questions Answered
How durable is the table structure?
The table is very stable, the top is very strong. The playing surface just cant be abused, ie non pool game treatment- sharp objects, etc. Normal play is fine.
The surface can certainly be replaced by a trained professional Billiard Installer.
What is the difference between the G-1 and a professinal Billiard Table?
Competition tables will behave differently to a home table, which will behave differently to a pub table. They are all different and have different speed cloth. The clear playing surface plays approximately in the middle of these, it has a slower ball roll than a competition table, but isn't as slow as some of the very thick american cloths. It is very difficult to perceive the difference to a normal table - we have had pros play on it and they were impressed, we had a 50/50 split of different people saying compared with their competition table it was either a little faster or a little slower!
Can the table withstand Trickshots?
The table can withstand trickshots. If the cue head hits the surface very hard and from a steep angle it may leave a slight aesthetic mark, but this is the same situation as a cloth table and won't affect game play.
How do you clean the glass bed from chalk etc.?
The surface can just be wiped clean with a damp cloth, no chemicals should be used. We also supply a polishing agent which should be used occasionally, it is an automotive polish/wax and enhances the feel and look of the surface. The chalk doesn't mark the surface at all, it just needs to be wiped off to prevent build up.
