Working in collaboration with Suzie Darrah of B Graham Interiors, we were tasked with designing a centerpiece for a residence that required a delicate balance between eras. The room featured a distinct traditional aesthetic, anchored by a black grand piano and classic textiles, yet the client desired a gaming piece that felt contemporary and light.
We engineered a hybrid design to bridge this stylistic gap. For the top rails, we selected Blonde Solid Walnut, meticulously grain-matching the timber to complement the residence’s existing hardwood flooring. To accommodate the client's request for an expanded 254cm x 127cm playing surface, we machined a custom six-leg chassis from high-clarity Lucite. This structural configuration was critical; the additional legs provide rigid support for the oversized slate bed while maintaining the visual transparency required to keep the room feeling open.
The installation was executed seamlessly, with our team navigating the delivery into the space in just three precise stages. By fusing the warmth of the walnut with the "invisible" architecture of the Lucite, the table sits comfortably atop the traditional rug, holding its own alongside the grand piano without visually overcrowding the space.
